A couple of weeks ago I attended Rally Wales, that is, I got a tour around the facilities of North One Sport, a UK based company that holds the commercial rights to the World Rally Championship as the events first ever global promoter. They are part of North One Television, one of Europe’s biggest independent media companies.
From trucks like these, North One Sport manage the media material from the rally and distribute it to 264 broadcast channels in over 120 countries worldwide with a cumulative audience in excess of 600 million.
It was really fascinating to both speak to those in charge and see the media production in action, and I learned a lot just by being there. Also, the Wales Rally GB was the last rally of the season, and a nice summary of WRC 2010 is found here.
